      ABOUT ME

This booklet is a record of Sharjah Art Foundation’s exhibition of the work of Iraqi photographer Latif Al Ani, curated by Hoor Al Qasimi. The exhibition traces the progression of Al Ani’s life from the 1950s to the 1970s, both in Iraq and throughout his travels to other countries. Many of Al Ani’s photographs were taken during the period of his employment at the Arabic-language magazine Ahl Al Naft, produced by the Iraq Petroleum Company, and later at the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and the Iraqi News Agency. His photographs span an array of subject matters, including portraits, landscapes and still life as well as ancient ruins and architecture. A large portion of the photographs in this booklet come from his archives, which were acquired by the Arab Image Foundation in Beirut.
