This publication is one of the catalogues accompanying Sharjah Biennial 16: to carry (6 February–15 June 2026), each dedicated to the Biennial's curatorial propositions. Edited by Zeynep Öz, this volume explores the relationship between publication and exhibition-making, examining how spatial narratives, material histories and systems of knowledge shape encounters with contemporary art. Drawing on the YAZ Publication Series, it positions publishing as both a curatorial tool and a framework for navigating the Biennial.

Bringing together documentation of the artworks and exhibitions with commissioned essays, excerpts from the YAZ Publications, conversations and reflections from March Meeting and April Acts, the catalogue offers insight into the research, exchanges and collaborative processes that informed this curatorial proposition. It also traces the exhibition's development through spatial legends, installation documentation and related programmes, revealing the constellation which shaped the formation of YAZ.

The catalogue includes a foreword by Hoor Al Qasimi; a curatorial essay YAZ by Zeynep Öz; a commissioned essay by Gökçe Günel; a conversation from April Acts between Celia and Olivia Plender as well as Mahmoud Khaled and Yasmine El Rashidi. It also features excerpts from the YAZ Publication Series, alongside documentation of the exhibition.
