This catalogue accompanied the eleventh iteration of Sharjah Biennial. Re:Emerge Towards a New Cultural Cartography brought together artists, architects and musicians to reflect on themes of identity, migration, trade, cultural influence and synthesis.
In these pages, Hoor Al Qasimi introduces the Biennial as a major cultural component of the Emirate’s past and future followed by Yuko Hasegawa’s curatorial text which contextualises the works selected as part of Sharjah Biennial 11. The book includes a detailed list of all the artists participating in the Biennial and illustrations of their work. The last section of the book explains works that were part of Sharjah Biennial’s 11 Music and Performance Programme.
