This catalogue accompanied Sharjah Biennial 7, which looked at issues of belonging, identity and cultural location. It addressed the cultural flows of a postcolonial world and the globalisation of art through a range of commissioned essays. The first section of the catalogue included essays from Hisham Al Madhloum, Hoor Al Qasimi, Frederick Bohrer, Achille Bonito Oliva, Boris Brollo, Kamal Boullata, Nicolas Bourriaud, Jean Fisher, Lamyert Garcia dos Santos, Elias Khoury, Ken Lum, Khaled Mattawa, Joseph Massad, Joseph Mosquera, Nadia Tazi and Tirdad Zolghadr.
The book includes a detailed list of all artists participating in Sharjah Biennial 7, as well as photographic documentation and descriptions of artworks that were part of the exhibition.
